HEVI Sponsored the 2026 Kansas One Shot Turkey Hunt
Click image to enlarge and download.SWEET HOME, Oregon - April 21, 2026 - HEVI was a sponsor at the recent Kansas One Shot Turkey Hunt which was recently held April 16-18, 2026, in El Dorado, Kansas. The annual event paired youth hunters, celebrities, dignitaries, landowners, and guides to promote wildlife conservation, local businesses, and the state's hunting heritage.
"The overall event was a success, raising money for turkey habitat restoration, research at Kansas State University, and conservation education, along with establishing the scholarship opportunities for students in wildlife-related fields," said Jerry Fitzner, an ammunition category manager for HEVI. "And it also helped mentor youth and first-time adult hunters. Whitney Damron, Chair of Kansas Wildlife and Parks Commissioners, successfully harvested his first bird with HEVI turkey loads at 33 yards and it was quite a positive experience for him."

“The purpose of this event was to promote conservation, provide educational experiences, and support youth through the Pass It On - Outdoor Mentors Program,” said Jon Zinnel HEVI's Director of Community Relations. “Event highlights included a ‘Hunting Heroes’ program and the selection of winners based on the highest-scoring turkey known as the ‘Big Tom Award’. The event also provided attendees with a great opportunity to field-test HEVI’s popular turkey loads, including HEVI-13, HEVI-18, Magnum Blend, and HEVI-Bismuth.”

With a blend of 4- and 5-shot made with 9.6 g/cc HEVI-Bismuth, you get blistering speed and 22 percent more energy than steel. HEVI’s shotshell puts more of those pellets on gobblers, and reliable primer and propellant deliver in any weather.
Magnum Blend combines No. 5, 6, and 7 shot cast from 12 g/cc tungsten. The heavy, high-density payloads can hold as many as 448 pellets in a single 12-gauge 3-inch shell, and those pellets deliver far more energy than lead, extending the effective range and improving pattern density.
